ProMAX 40 Flat Disk

If you’re wanting a flat-disk planting solution that works, the John Deere ProMAX 40 Flat is your best choice. Period.

This is not a cell disk. It’s a flat disk. And John Deere has been making it since 1991. The ProMAX 40 Flat was designed by John Deere as a component to the entire John Deere VacuMeter system … that means you don’t need to buy a new hopper just to make it work!

The design of the ProMAX 40 Flat, as well as the positioning of the disk within the meter, allow seed to be released from the optimum position above the seed tube. The new Flush-Face seed tube allows seed to drop uninterrupted through the tube, so every seed is properly released into the tube, and every seed clears the tube with even spacing.

The disk has 40 holes, so it requires fewer revolutions per minute than a "raised" 30-hole flat disk to apply the desired population. There are two benefits of fewer revolutions. First, there’s ample time for seed to be drawn to each hole, so there’s less need to agitate the seed. And with less agitation, there’s a reduced chance that seed will become damaged within the meter.

Because the ProMAX 40 Flat doesn’t have cells to help carry the seed, it requires a higher vacuum level. The higher the vacuum level, the increased chance two seeds will be drawn to the individual holes. This requires additional meter components: A double eliminator and a knockout wheel.

The double eliminator on Pro-Series row units has been redesigned with a center detent position. This position accurately singulates more than 90 percent of today’s seed sizes and shapes. When planting seeds at the opposite ends of the size spectrum with the ProMAX 40 Flat, you can use the larger or smaller setting on the double eliminator to adjust the coverage of the hole. Best of all, these settings are uniform on every row unit, so you get unbeatable accuracy across your planter. No other flat-disk planting solution offers this level of convenience and flexibility.
